  1. Three of the best arguments for expansion would have to be: expanding the naval forces to around the world, expanding the religion of Christianity, and the huge market waiting for America supplies over in the Asian territories. Naval forces were essential to America as they were expanding all their armed forces for a better standpoint if in fact a war were to break out. Spreading the Christian religion to all the other countries was a huge impact wanted by all Americans, just like when Britain wanted to bring Christianity over with them. Not even to mention the economic advantage that America would get over the Asian territories by trading. The amount of people in those territories was exponential and the intake was vast, so trading was a sure success for any of the America markets.

  2. Three of the best arguments for expansion would be new trading markets, industrialization, and the exchange of cultures. Pursuing overseas expansion brings new people to trade with and new products. It also brings industrialization to other civilizations that did not have it before. With the mixing of people also comes the exchange of cultures, ideas, languages, and much more. The best arguments against expansion would be the cost, potential discrimination, and that it can result in the death of many people. It can cost the country pushing for expansion a lot of money to pursue and empire. The exchange between very different cultures can lead to the discrimination. Finally if the native people decide to rebel, then it can lead to wars with unnecessary deaths.

The cons disagreed with the idea of imperialism because We once were controlled by Great Britain. Nobody likes being controlled. Plus race discrimination would occur quite a bit, and who likes to be force out of there own culture or religion I should say, and be force to be Christianize.

  4. A detriment of expansion is a loss of culture and language. Some of the traditions and languages were forced out of societies. Another con to expansion is the racism and genocide that comes along with it. Another disadvantage was the introduction of slave trade and the use of laborers for a low price.

  5. Expansion of the U.S. can both be considered a good play or a bad one, however, I believe that it was a good play by far. With the expansion of the United States we brought new markets for the countries to help their economy, we also went to new markets to help our economy, we helped spread religion, but also learned new cultures, and not to mention the protection that we had for any of the new countries, as well as the use of the naval bases on various islands.

  6. One of the reasons for expansion is the opening of new markets, in this way a country could sell its left products and obtain benefits, another one is that the Nation being colonized could get protection if being threatened or attacked by another country, and to finish, if the place to be colonized is a really poor one, the health and educational situation may improve.

  7. 1) New Markets for finished goods- Europeans would import raw materials and natural resources from Africa, process and manufacture them, and then resell them back to the settlements in Africa.
    2) Nationalism- As European countries fought for more land, they looked for new colonies in Africa.
    3) Missionary Activity- New colonies in Africa would not only make Europeans richer, but also help spread Christianity.
