  1. I think that the most significant cause to the Spanish-American War was the sinking of the Maine and the Delome letter. The sinking of the Maine was blamed on the Spanish when they really didn't cause it. The Delome letters just cause more of an upset because Americans think that only we can talk bad about the president and not foreigners.

  2. I think the most significant cause of the Spanish American War is Yellow Journalism. Yellow Journalism Was a big factor in Blaming the Spanish for the sinking of the Maine and it also spread the word about the Delome Letter and that's when the American people formed an opinion and that's when the war became apparent.

  3. The immediate cause of the Spanish-American War was the sinking of the U. S. S. Maine in Havana harbor on February 15, 1898. And thats kinda where yellow journalism falls into place

  4. I think one of the most significant causes of the Spanish American war was the de Lome letter. This letter from the Spanish minister insulted President McKinley, and angered Americans greatly, adding to the reasons Americans wanted to go to war.

  6. The most important cause of the Spanish-American War was definitely the sinking of the Maine. Everybody blamed the Spanish for doing it but they had no part in it whatsoever.
