Students are discussing the causes of 9-11.
EXTRA CREDIT: Of all the purported causes of 9-11, which of these do you consider to have the most credibility and why?
I believe that there are many different reasons that are related to the overall cause of 9/11. The most credible explanation, however, would have to be the misinterpretation of Islamic texts by Islamic terrorists. Bin Laden based his war from a gathering of Muslim beliefs and found reason for attack in the Koran to give his war legitimacy. Selective reading of the Koran gave initiative to urge unprovoked attacks on "infidels". For example: the word "sword" could be interpreted as a violent surge against one's enemies. This does not mean that Islam is a violent faith, but believers do take the Koran very seriously because it is the word of God. - Tia
I believe that the most credible reason for the event of 9/11 would be the basis of Bin Laden's religious beliefs. He took the readings from the Islamic texts and made it fit his plan. At least it seems that way. Selective parts made his war ideas seem legitimate and gave him initiative to take action. I also think his anger for America came from other previous issues regarding trades and the like. He was not happy with us to begin with and the readings from his religion gave him an "ok". The reason, in my opinion, for the attacks of 9-11 is Bin Laden's religious views. He based his plan of attack from certain excerpts from the Koran that he made fit his scheme to attack the U.S. His ability to manipulate the religious text is the reason that he was able to recruit his warriors, and give his war a solid foundation on which many people have sought refuge and found truth in. I am sure that there is a multitude of different reasons that Bin Laden waged his war upon the U.S. but the manipulation of the Koran seems to be the most likely reason that I have been thus far informed of.
