American History II students are currently discussing the different types of political systems, their pros and cons, and their economic systems.
EXTRA CREDIT: Which type of government do you think would best provide freedoms for its citizens and yet be efficient in the decisions that it makes? Why do you think this?
At this point, I believe that a form of Democratic Socialism would be appropriate. The economy is balanced throughout the community, but everything is decided by vote. There is always a possibility of communism evolving from this. Once I learn more about different government systems in this chapter I will most likely change my mind though.
ReplyDeleteI think the best kind of government would be a Federal Republic. A federal republic is a federation of states with a republican form of government. In this system of government, there is a division of powers between the "federal" government and the governments of each state. For instance, the federation could manage issues such as national security and defense, a common currency or laws granted by a constitution, but each subdivision, province or state would handle its own laws, educational system or infrastructure maintenance. Some examples of Federal Republics are the United States of America, the United Mexican States (Mexico), the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Russian Federation or the Swiss Confederation.
ReplyDeleteI think that the best government would be a democracy.. Since it means that the people are the ruling power. It gives everyone a point of view and opinion, yet keeps order with someone specifically in charge.
ReplyDeleteI think Democratic is the best way to go if you want freedom. Everything is voted on to decided. It is a way the people can get involved. Brittany H-W
ReplyDeleteI believe that efficiency in decisions and freedom for citizens, at least to any further extent than we already have, are pretty much mutually exclusive. Any form of government that represents the most people it can is still going to have hearty opposition in such a diverse society, and decisions will be made very slowly, if at all. This is why such things as socialism would not fare as well here as they have in other places not as diverse. However, if the opposition were to not have a voice, we would be left with a one-party system, leading to an oligarchy and possibly even a dictatorship. Efficiency should take a back seat to freedom of the people, which is why I believe that a democratic republic like the one we have in place today is the best possible government for freedom of the people. That is not to say I am happy with the way things are currently being done, just that ny other system of government would not be as effective.
ReplyDeletederek morgan- i also believe a democracy would bebest because of the voting in of leaders, the only down side is that it takes a while for actions to take place
ReplyDeleteI believe that a Democracy would best serve its citizens because everyone would be able to vote on decisions.
ReplyDeleteI think that democracy would be the best form of government. In a democracy everything is voted for and everybody has a voice. In some types of government only a select few have any say but with a democracy everyone gets to vote on what they think is right or fair. --Kayla N
ReplyDeleteI believe that, if ran properly, Communism would probably be the best type of government. It would make all people equal in every way, there would be no private land, or fear of greedy businesses because they would not be owned by any one person. I know that Communism as Karl Marks wanted it will probably never occur but if it did I'm sure it would be a very good government system unlike the Communist countries we have seen.

I agree with Michael. Communism would be the best form of government if it could be without corruption. All people would be equal. I also believe that it would be impossible to have such a government because there is always going to be greed and there is always going to be the people that don't agree and ruin it for everyone.
