  1. I believe I learned so far about the heritage of Native Americans and how the live and what they value and how different it is from out lifestyle and the things we value. For instance we tend to value success and we measure that in what we have materialistically whereas the Indians value success too only they measure it through what they have done. They value family a lot and that means the most to them. Through out name project I learned they they take a lot of pride in their names and they are chosen wisely.

  2. One of the main ideas or concepts that I have learned from this unit is the different Native American cultures. While reading Lame Deer you learn about all the different rituals they have. Although some people believe that these concepts are weird, I think that there culture is really interesting. Everyone has there own different ideas about why they do different things. Native Americans have grown up learning about the different rituals and medicine. Native Americans are no different than us, there culture is just a little different than ours. For an example, Native Americans have sweat lodges to purify themselves. Some people go to church so that they can purify themselves, it's the same exact concept.

  3. The main thing I learned in this unit was how Native culture is so different than the white culture. For example they value family and the Earth much more than whites do and they take their traditions very serious. When reading Lame Deer, I learned how the Native culture lived off of the Earth and everyone was family. Natives purify themselves by sweat lodges and whites go to church or pray. I learned that the Natives have to earn their native names and that they have processes of becoming adults.
