AHI
American History I students are currently studying the expansion of the West and the policy towards Native Americans.
EXTRA CREDIT: Discuss the policy of assimilation. Was it necessary? Was it effective? Was it moral? Explain.
I think that the expansion of the west was necisary for the americans to get what they wanted, but on the other hand we had to take over indian populated land to get here and that to me is imoral. Now the policy of assimilatin is basicly trying to change the way of life, in this case we changed the indians way of life so that they would live like the whites, this was important so that the indians would stop fighting for their land, we gave them jobs that they could have never gotten before and they lived in our society.
The policy of Assimilation on the west expansion was necessary and effective but it seemed like the opposite to the Indians because these white guys went over and tried to kick them out and in most areas the white man did but They either got sent to a reservation or switched to the white man. The white man on the other side thought it was necessary and effective because it let people farm more and get more civilized. All in all it went both ways For good and bad.
The policy of Assimilation on the west expansion was in a way necessary and effective but was also in a way not necessary. The Indians took it a different way. They took it as them being forced out of a place where they have lived there whole life to a place that is so different. Mainly in beliefs and how they lived. The white man on the other hand thought for only themselves. They thought it would only better further our own. They didn't care what happened to the Indians at all. The things that i did help in is for the Indians to get more civilized and stop all the massacres. It was in a way effective for both sides.
