American History I students are currently discussing the Civil War. The events that led to the war and the major events and battles during the war.
EXTRA CREDIT: Describe what you believe to be the most important event in the war that turned the tide of the war for the North or against the South.
The turning point in the war when the North started to triumph over the South was the battle of Gettysburg. The reason i belive that this was the turning point is because it was the battle that finally put a stop to Generals Lee's invasion on the North. The first time that the North was able to make General lee call his forces back and retreat back to Virginia.
ReplyDeleteIt was after the Union victories at Gettysburg and Vicksburg that the tide of the war turned. The wars ultimately exhausted not only the Confederacy's army, but its economy and society as well.
