AHI students are studying the creation of our Constitution. The basic principles, founding fathers, etc.
EXTRA CREDIT: Discuss at least one of the several compromises that had to be made in order for the Constitution to be ratified by the States.
One of the compromises made in the creation of the constitution involved the Virginia plan where every state was represented by their population and all slaves counted. It also involved the Rhode Island plan where all states were represented equally. I the end they compromised to have every state represented by two senators in the senate and then was represented by size in the house of representatives.

The one major compromises I can think of would be the Bill of Rights. Many of the anti-federalists believe that a government would prone to tyranny without some form of written rights.
ReplyDeleteThey had to write the Bill of Rights to guarantee the people the freedoms they had fought for.
ReplyDeleteThe bill of rights was a very big part of the way the states wanted the government to be so they wouldn't pass on the constitution tell they found a way to put one in the constitution. Laura Williams 3ed period
ReplyDeleteThe 3/5 compromise said that three fifths of not white people would be represented in electoral. jack
ReplyDeleteOne of the compromises that had to be made in creating our Constitution was a decision about how to have fair representation in legislation. States with high populations as well as states with large land masses needed to be represented fairly. The Connecticut Compromise was a solution to this problem. The Upper House (Senate) would consist of two people voted from each state, while the Lower House (House of Representatives) would be based on population within the state.
